National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC)

The National Museum of Natural History and Science (MUHNAC) is the largest and most important museum of the University of Lisbon. It includes the Lisbon Botanic Garden (19th century), the Laboratorio Chimico (19th century), the Astronomical Observatory of the Lisbon Polytechnic School (19th century), the Ajuda Astronomical Observatory (19th century) and the collections of the Tropical Research Institute (IICT) and the Tropical Botanic Garden (early 20th century), apart from diverse collections of natural history, history of science and medicine, biobanks (seeds, audio and DNA/tissues), scientific illustrations and drawings, photography, cartography, institutional history and one of the largest scientific historical archives in Portugal. MUHNAC is the leader os PRISC, the Portuguese Infrastructure of Scientific Collections, included in the national roadmap of strategic research infrastructures.
